Oral Surgery Procedures in Spring, TX
Dr. Memmott on Oral Surgery
Sometimes, you need more than general dentistry to get your smile back in tip-top shape. While oral surgery can sound intimidating, we perform many of the services you need right here in our Spring, TX dentist office with the dentist and staff you’ve already come to trust with all of your family’s dental care needs.
What is the tooth removal process?
If your tooth is beyond repair or your mouth is overcrowded, you may need to have your tooth removed. Your trusted Spring, TX dentist, Dr. Memmott, will make sure you don’t experience any pain through this process by numbing the area around your tooth before he begins your treatment. If you experience dental anxiety, we have a number of ways we can make you more comfortable during your procedure.
How will you prepare my mouth for dental implants?
Dental implants require oral surgery. We’ll begin preparing you for dental implants by taking X-rays and impressions of your mouth, so we can devise the best treatment plan for you. Prior to the procedure, local anesthesia and sedation may be administered to manage any discomfort. If necessary, we will remove irreparable teeth first and then do any needed bone-strengthening procedures. After healing, you’ll be ready for your implants to be placed.
What kind of oral surgery treatment can I get in-office?
Sometimes, we need to perform a sinus lift before implant placement. This raises the sinuses so that we can add more bone material to the area between your sinus cavity and your jaw.
After losing teeth, sometimes your jaw needs to be reinforced with extra bone for it to be strong enough to hold implants in place. We call that process a bone graft.
If most of your teeth are gone, you might want dentures or dental implants to bring full functionality back to your bite. First, however, we’ll need to extract any teeth that are too damaged or decayed to repair, or teeth that need to be removed to make room for dentures.
We can follow a tooth removal with a ridge augmentation, which uses bone grafting techniques to return the natural shape to your jaw and gums. We routinely perform wisdom teeth removals as well.
