For me, I think the most fun that I have doing dentistry and being a dentist is just the opportunity to take something that seems scary—that can seem complicated—and show people that it can be the reverse or the opposite. My favorite patient is someone who they don't know exactly what they need, but they assume that it's going to be worse than it is, and when we can just go the extra mile or make their experience very easy whether it's just the way we explain treatment, the way that their visit goes—just making things easier.
I guess my favorite part is that dentistry—the bar is set so low, it seems like, that patients expect to be hurt. They expect to have it be complicated and expensive, and if you can just exceed their expectations, it's a really good feeling. I love that every day is—almost with everyone, I have the opportunity to just exceed their expectations, and it's really good feeling. I'd say that's one of my favorite things about being a dentist, is just the opportunity to watch patients—just to meet their expectations and exceed that every day.
